An opinion essay!

Should that the government introduce school on Saturday mornings?
The government's planning to introduce a new law which will mean that students go to school on Saturday morning in order to improve the level of education. In my opinion, this would have some negative consequences.

In the first place, I believe that the students won't study much, because they'll become more tired and bored of both work. The teachers will have to go to school, and they must prepare more work for students. I think that the teachers haven't got more time, but they're have more job. As a consequence the teachers will have more problems with students.

In conclusion, I disagree with that law. There must be a better alternative. If they introduce Saturdays in school, people don't be motivated for school and they become bored.

WRITING: WRITE ABOUT AN EXPERIENCE

This time last year, things weren’t going too well for me. My best friend is moving to the USA and I’d also had a big argument with my cousin. Friends invited me out, but I didn’t really want to see them. I spent a lot of time training roller skaiting.

Everything changed for me the day I saw a programme about the professional girl, who do classes of roller skaiting in Barcelona. I became much optimistic and enthusiastic. My friends made me realize that I should be a bit more positive. I found out that sportsters in my town were training with a professional girl too, so I started to go in it.

These days, I feel much happier. I feel more sociable and useful. If I hadn’t seen the programme, I’d never have had the opportunity.

MUSIC: LADY GAGA

Lady Gaga is famous for her pop, dance and electronic music. If you are a fan of her single Born This Way, you'll love her album of the same name which is out soon. Her first album in 2009, The Fame, made Gaga one of the most important celebrities in the world. Now Gaga is confident that her success will continue: I primse to give you the greatest album of this decade, she told her fans.

Prince William

Prince William is the second in line to the British trone. He has a great lifestyle: he goes on fun holidays and has tea at Buckingham Palace with his grandmother, the Queen. British people love him: he works for charities and serves in the British army.
But William did not choose to be famous. When he was seven years old, William told his mother, Princess Diana, that he wanted to be a policeman. His brother, Harry, said "No, you can't. You've got to be the king!". His mother tried to give him a notmal life. She tookhim to Dinseyland and McDonald's. William went to university too, where he meet his future wife, Kate Middleton. Now the British press are obsessed with the couple!.
CONSOLE AND ENCOURAGE: Unit 8

Tània: Hey, Amadeu, you look a bit down. What's the matter?
Amadeu: Oh, I've just heard that my best friend's father has got a job in USA, and she's moving away
Tània: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. It isn't the end of the world though
Amadeu: I know, but I'm really going to miss her
Tània: don't take it too badly- at least you can visit her on summer holidays. USA is really cool.
Amadeu: That's true, I supose
Tània: Look at it this way- if he's father hadn't got the job there maybe she will be disappointed with him...
Amadeu: Yeah, maybe you're right
Tània: Cheer up! Com on- let's go to a café or something
Amadeu: OK. Thanks, Tània. I feel a bit better now.

APOLOGIZE FOR A MISUNDERSTANDING: Unit 7

Tània: Excuse me. Can I have a word with you?
Amadeu: Yes. Is there a problem?
TàniaI'm afraid so. DId you know that this is private property?
Amadeu: No, I didn't.
Tània: Didn't you see the sign?
Amadeu: No, I'm afraid not.
Tània: Have you been here before to skateboard?
Amadeu: No, I like out of town.
Tània: Well, if I were you, I'd look for a different place.
Amadeu: OK. Sorry about that. I didn't realize.
Tània: That's OK. Remember for next time.

EXPLAIN AND CLARIFY A SITUATION: Unit 9

Tània: Hi Sergi. How was your weekend?
Amadeu: Not bad, thanks. Why do you ask?
Tània: Because you told me that you were staying in on Saturday night, but I heard that you were at a party.
Amadeu: Who told you that?
Tània: Grace said that she'd seen you. How come you didn't tell me about it?
Amadeu: Cause I was only there for an hour. My dad asked me to take my sister. I chatted to Paul for a while and then I left.
Tània: Are you telling me the truth, Sergi?
Amadeu: Honestly, it's true! If you don't belive me, you can ask Grace.
Tània: OK, OK. I belive you. Sorry, Sergi.
